New Delhi 12 September : In a proactive move aimed at addressing the civic challenges faced by local residents & traders, Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk Shri Praveen Khandelwal today conducted a thorough inspection of Chandni Chowk, Bhagirathi Place, Fountain, Nai Sadak, Dangal Maidan, Railway Station Road, Church Mission Road & Khari Baoli in his constituency.
Accompanied by several Senior officials from various departments, including the D.C. City Ms. Vandana Rao, ACP Kotwali of Delhi Police, Jal Board, PWD, Urban Shelter Board, BSES, Traffic Police, Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation.
MP Shri Khandelwal was accompanied by Delhi BJP Spokesperson Shri Praveen Shankar Kapoor, Chandni Chowk District President Sardar Kuldeep Singh, General Secretary Shri Praveen Jain, Trader leaders of Delhi Hindustani Merchantile Association, Chandni Chowk Sarv Vypar Mandal and other prominent associations.
MP Khandelwal took stock of various issues plaguing the area, including encroachments, potholes, and poor sanitation and water logging.
During the inspection, Shri Khandelwal noted significant concerns about the state of public spaces. He emphasized that roads littered with dirt, unresolved potholes, and unauthorized encroachments were not acceptable and needed to be urgently addressed.
He has instructed the concerned officials to take detailed notes of all the identified issues and prepare a comprehensive action plan to ensure that every point of concern is tackled without delay.
In a stern message to officials, MP Shri Khandelwal stated that he plans to revisit Chandni Chowk in an unannounced manner to personally verify the progress of the remedial measures. “I will silently monitor the situation to see if the work has been completed satisfactorily. If the issues persist or if the work is incomplete, strict action will be taken against the responsible officials.”
Shri Khandelwal further added that, “Chandni chowk is the center of various trade in the country and is a historical place too, hence I will do everything to restore it’s cultural heritage and dignity. I am planning the restructuring of the Shahjahanabad Redevelopment Corporation, who will single handedly look after this historical place, the current situation is getting worst as varios agencies are taking care of the place and they are doing nothing accept putting blames on each other”.
This inspection underscores MP Praveen Khandelwal’s commitment to improving the infrastructure and cleanliness in Chandni Chowk, ensuring that the residents experience a cleaner, safer, and better-maintained environment.
