Wedding season 2025 to generate ₹6.5 lakh crore business from 46 Lakh weddings across India: CAIT Delhi alone to witness ₹1.8 lakh crore trade from 4.8 lakh weddings — Indian goods to dominate amid ‘Vocal for Local’ wave
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), through its research arm CAIT Research & Trade Development Society (CRTDS), has projected an unprecedented ₹6.50 lakh crore business during the upcoming wedding season from 1st November to 14th December 2025, with an estimated 46 lakh weddings set to take place across the country.
CAIT Secretary General & Chandni Chowk MP Shri Praveen Khandelwal informed that this extensive study, conducted between 15th and 25th October 2025 across 75 major cities, reveals that India’s wedding economy continues to be one of the strongest pillars of domestic trade, combining tradition, modernity, and self-reliance under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s “Vocal for Local” vision.
Key Findings of the CAIT Study
• Total Weddings: 46 lakh
• Estimated Business Volume: ₹6.50 lakh crore
• Delhi Weddings: 4.8 lakh
• Delhi’s Contribution: ₹1.8 lakh crore
In comparison in 2024 48 lakh weddings took place with an expenditure of ₹5.90 lakh crore
2023 whereas 38 lakh weddings solemnised with ₹4.74 lakh crore
In 2022. On the other hand 32 lakh wedding took place with ₹3.75 lakh crore expenditure in 2022.
He said that while the total number of weddings is nearly similar to last year, spending per wedding has increased significantly, reflecting higher disposable incomes, inflation in precious metals, and rising consumer confidence after a record-breaking festive season.
The study highlights a strong shift toward Swadeshi products, with over 70% of wedding-related purchases now being Indian-made — including apparel, jewellery, décor, utensils, and catering items.
CAIT’s “Vocal for Local Weddings” campaign has substantially reduced the presence of imported goods such as Chinese lighting, artificial décor, and gift accessories. Traditional artisans, jewellers, and textile producers are witnessing a surge in orders, symbolizing the strength of India’s local manufacturing and craftsmanship.
Shri Khandelwal said that out of estimated 6.5 lakh crore wedding expenditure, it is estimated that Apparel, Sarees 10%, Jewellery 15%, Electronics & Electricals 5%, Dry Fruit, Sweets 5%, Grocery & Vegetables 5%, Gift items 4%, Other goods 6% whereas in services segment Event management 5%, catering, 10%, photography & videography 2%, travel & hospitality 3%, floral decoration 4%, Musical groups 3%, Light & Sound 3% and other services 3% share will be taken by each sector.
Shri Khandelwal said that in regional sectors Delhi is estimated to have ₹1.8 lakh crore trade from 4.8 lakh weddings; major spending on jewellery, fashion, and venues.
In Rajasthan & Gujarat: Surge in luxury and destination weddings.
In Uttar Pradesh & Punjab: High expenditure on traditional décor and catering. In Maharashtra & Karnataka: Strong growth in event management and banquet services. In Southern States: Increasing demand for heritage and temple weddings boosting tourism.
Shri Khandelwal said that the 2025 wedding season is projected to generate over 1 crore temporary and part-time jobs, directly benefiting decorators, caterers, florists, artists, transporters, and hospitality staff. MSMEs in textiles, jewellery, handicrafts, packaging, and logistics will gain substantial seasonal momentum, reinforcing their crucial role in India’s “Sanatan Economy.”
Shri Khandelwal said that it is noteworthy that Digital & Modern Trends has got immense prominence in weddings. 1–2% of wedding budgets now allocated to digital content creation and social media coverage.Online invitation platforms, AI-based planning tools are experiencing 20–25% growth in wedding-related sales. Families increasingly prefer Indian destinations over international venues, reflecting pride in India’s culture and economy.
Talking about economic significance of weddings, Shri Khandelwal said that CAIT estimates that this 45-day wedding season will contribute approximately ₹75,000 crore to government tax revenues (GST and others). The Indian wedding economy remains one of the largest unorganized yet impactful sectors, driving both rural and urban consumption.

The Indian wedding is not only a cultural festival but also a massive economic engine driving trade, employment, and entrepreneurship.”
The 2025 wedding season captures the essence of “Ek Bharat, Samriddh Bharat” — a blend of tradition, prosperity, and pride in Indian enterprise. As millions of couples tie the knot, they also weave together the threads of India’s economy, culture, and self-reliance.
