Traders’ Conference on Next Generation GST Reforms Successfully Organized by CAIT

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) today organized a significant Traders’ Conference on Next Generation GST Reforms at the Constitution Club, Rafi Marg, New Delhi. The conference brought together leading traders, tax experts, and policymakers to deliberate on reforms required to make GST simpler, more transparent, and trader-friendly.

The conference was chaired by *Shri Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament & National General Secretary, CAIT*, who emphasized the need for aligning GST with the realities of small and medium traders of India. He highlighted the challenges being faced by the trading community in the present GST regime and put forth constructive suggestions for its reform to ensure ease of doing business. He further emphasized that a practical GST structure will not only ease compliance but also enhance tax collection, expand the tax base, and drive economic growth.

*The national president CAIT, Shri B C Bhartia* said that “A wide range of issues including simplification of return filing, rationalization of tax slabs, removal of technical glitches in the GST portal, and reducing compliance burden on small traders were discussed in detail. Traders expressed their strong consensus that *GST reforms are critical to enhance business growth and strengthen the national economy*”.

*Ex principal CGST Commissioner Shri Navneet Goel* in his keynote address underscored the urgent need for aligning GST policies with the ground realities faced by small and medium-sized traders. He further added that “while GST has been a landmark reform,but the present system still poses challenges that discourage entrepreneurship and growth. In today’s conference a unanimous view emerged that a next generation GST model must balance revenue needs with business facilitation.”

The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from trade leaders across sectors, reflecting the urgency and importance of building a robust and practical GST framework that addresses ground-level challenges of India’s trading community.

CAIT reiterated its commitment to working closely with the Government to ensure that the GST system evolves in a way that truly reflects the aspirations of India’s 8 crore traders and contributes to making India a global economic powerhouse
