MP Khandelwal urges Union Minister Vaishnav to establish a National Cybersecurity Certification Council — A decisive step towards a safe and technologically empowered Bharat

*Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, Shri Praveen Khandelwal, has written to the Hon’ble Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology, Communications, and Railways, Shri Ashwini Vaishnav*, urging the creation of a *National Cybersecurity Certification Council* to strengthen India’s cyber defense and digital resilience.

Shri Khandelwal stated that while India’s rapid digital transformation has revolutionized governance, business, and citizen services, it has simultaneously led to a surge in cyber frauds, data breaches, and misuse of digital platforms. *“The same technology that empowers can also endanger — it is time we create strong institutional safeguards,” he emphasized.*

In his letter, Shri Khandelwal proposed the establishment of a National Cybersecurity Certification Body to promote and standardize cybersecurity education, certifications, and skill development in India. The initiative would align with the Government’s Digital India and Viksit Bharat @2047 vision, aiming to create a workforce equipped to safeguard the nation’s digital ecosystem.

“The mission should be to build and strengthen India’s cybersecurity talent pool through structured training, certification, and applied research — ensuring that every digital citizen is both empowered and secure,” Shri Khandelwal noted.

Shri Khandelwal has suggested that the proposed Council would offer globally benchmarked certifications in information security and ethical hacking, such as:

*Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH):* For developing skills in ethical hacking and penetration testing.

*Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI)* Focused on forensic analysis and digital evidence management.

*Certified Network Defender (CND)* Training for network security and defense strategies.

*Certified Security Analyst (CSA)* Advanced certification in vulnerability assessment and penetration testing.

*Licensed Penetration Tester* – Master (LPT): Elite credential for expert cyber professionals.

*Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO)*: Designed for leadership roles in cybersecurity management.

Shri Khandelwal said that such a body would bridge the huge talent gap in the cybersecurity sector, train ethical hackers and security specialists, and create nationwide cyber awareness among citizens, entrepreneurs, and public officials.

“India’s aspiration to become the world’s leading technology hub must rest on a strong cybersecurity foundation,” Shri Khandelwal said. “A National Cybersecurity Certification Council will ensure that India’s digital progress remains safe, self-reliant, and globally competitive.”

He emphasized that this step will not only enhance the digital resilience of businesses, startups, and institutions but will also reinforce India’s position as a trusted global digital power.
