MP Khandelwal suggested Delhi CM for establishment of Delhi Digital University to empower future-ready education

In a major visionary step towards transforming Delhi into a hub of digital learning and innovation, Shri Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, has formally proposed the establishment of a Delhi Digital University to Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta., a copy of which has been marked to Shri Ashish Sood, Delhi Education Minister.

In his communication to the Chief Minister, Shri Khandelwal described the proposal as a strategic move to make Delhi a pioneer in futuristic, tech-enabled education aligned with the National Education Policy.

Shri Khandelwal stated that the proposed Delhi Digital University would serve as a centralized hub for quality online higher education, skill development, and research in cutting-edge technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, and Digital Governance. The university would offer flexible, accessible, and affordable learning opportunities for students, professionals, and entrepreneurs alike.

Highlighting the multiple advantages of the proposal, he stated that it will provide universal access to education for one & all. It would democratize access to top-tier education for students across all socio-economic backgrounds, including those in remote areas. He further said that future-oriented skilling: industry-integrated courses in collaboration with tech companies and startups would enhance employability and foster entrepreneurship.

Shri Khandelwal opined that such university will give a boost to Delhi’s digital ecosystem: The university could act as a catalyst in positioning Delhi as a leading knowledge and innovation hub and on the other hand it shall prove to be scalable & cost-effective: With a digital-first model, it would require lower infrastructure investment while ensuring massive outreach. He also said that with the right collaborations, the university could attract international students and researchers, gaining national and global recognition.

“If implemented, this initiative will mark a landmark policy innovation under the Delhi Government and reaffirm its commitment to inclusive, technology-driven education,” Shri Khandelwal said.
