MP Khandelwal welcomes CM Rekha Gupta’s historic decision to remove Delhi Police from business licensing process Over 4 Lakh small and large businesses in Delhi to be benefited

Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk and Secretary General of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) Shri Praveen Khandelwal, today welcomed the landmark administrative decision of Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta to withdraw the Delhi Police from providing the licensing and NOC (No Objection Certificate) process for various types of businesses. He stated that this reform is a result of CM Gupta’s efforts to implement Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Ease of Doing Business in Delhi, which will benefit nearly 4 lakh small and large enterprises in the city.

Calling the move “historic and visionary,” Shri Khandelwal said, “This is a remarkable step toward enhancing ease of doing business and aligns perfectly with Prime Minister Modi’s vision. By eliminating the police’s role in the business licensing system, we are moving toward a transparent, corruption-free, and efficient administration that will empower entrepreneurs and boost economic activity.”

He further added, “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is ushering the capital into a new era of business-friendly reforms. This decision will not only eliminate unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles but also allow the police to fully focus on their core duties — maintaining law and order, preventing crime, and ensuring women’s safety.”

According to the revised framework, licenses and NOCs for businesses such as hotels, guest houses, restaurants, motels, swimming pools, video game parlours, discotheques, auditoriums, and amusement parks will now be issued by urban local bodies. This move also addresses longstanding concerns of the business community regarding delays and corruption associated with the police-based licensing system.
